Cup of coffee with smoke and coffee beans on old wooden background
A few days ago, while I was on a work mission, I stopped by a guesthouse looking for a place to spend the night. As I was walking around the compound, I noticed another small building attached to the guesthouse with a sign that read “Coffee for Sale.”
I entered the building, not really intending to buy coffee, but out of curiosity to see what they did there, although I eventually ended up buying a cup of coffee to drink!
After paying for the coffee, I exited through a different door than the one I had entered. In just a brief moment, my eyes caught sight of the word “COFFEE” written on the wall of the shop. On a closer look, I realized they had turned it into an acronym, written as follows:
C: Christ
O: Offers
F: Forgiveness
F: For
E: Everyone
E: Everywhere.
I was deeply moved by how they used what God had given them, a coffee shop, to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through Jesus Christ, simply by writing it on a wall. Indeed, the wall itself became a preacher!
I am convinced that each of us has a “wall” that continually preaches to us about Jesus. What wall has recently preached to you? And have you listened to its message?
Conclusion
When we obey God and use what He has given us wisely, it becomes a blessing. However, when we disobey Him and misuse what He has entrusted to us, it can turn into a curse, even if we don’t see the consequences immediately.
For example, when God created water, His purpose was for it to be a blessing—to nourish crops and trees, provide a home for fish, and serve other purposes. Yet, in the time of Noah, that same water became a curse when it destroyed people because of their disobedience to God (Genesis 7:20–24; 1 Peter 3:20–21).
This story is not written to suggest that every businessperson or anyone who has received something from God but doesn’t use it for evangelism will fail, nor that one must write Bible verses on their shop walls, cars, or belongings. Rather, it is a reminder to the Church that everything God has given us can be used to share the Gospel!
Ask yourself: Is the phone God gave you being used to honor Him, or is it filled with activities that dishonor Him, such as immorality, gossip, or spreading conflict? Is the position or honor God has given you used to uplift His name, or do you use it to oppress others and show superiority?
Brothers and sisters, whatever we have can become a blessing to others when used according to God’s will, but it can also become a curse when used for shameful purposes.
